College of Business Administration accreditation extended

The Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ  (CBA) has received a five-year extension of its accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). This news comes following a successful site visit this past spring.

The accreditation peer review team that conducted the review consisted of business school deans from Fairfield University, Marist College and Oklahoma City University. They praised the College’s three Centers of Excellence – the Center for Social Entrepreneurship, the Charlton Center for Responsible Investing and the Center for Practice & Research in Management & Ethics (PRIME) – as well as the College’s commitment to community-engaged service-learning and its assurance of learning process.

“We’re grateful for the support provided to us by AACSB, and proud to maintain the distinction of AACSB accreditation,” said CBA Dean Joe Eisenhauer. “Our students and alumni can be justly proud of earning their academic credentials from one of the finest business schools in the world.”

Only the top six percent of business schools in the world have achieved AACSB accreditation; Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ’s College of Business Administration has remained fully accredited since 1949, making this the 75th anniversary of its accreditation. 

Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked the College’s MBA No. 17 in the nation for Management, making it the nation’s top-rated Catholic business school in this category.

Each five-year accreditation review examines the business school’s performance on nine standards:

  • strategic planning
  • use of physical, virtual, and financial resources
  • sufficiency and deployment of faculty and staff members
  • curricula
  • assurance of learning
  • student outcomes
  • teaching effectiveness
  • scholarly research
  • societal impact through community engagement.

Accredited schools are expected to adhere to nine guiding principles:
