Valesano, Mary Elizabeth

Mary Elizabeth Valesano

Assistant Professor of Theatre and Costume Designer for the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Theatre Company, teaches Introduction to Theatre, Theatrical Design, Management Techniques and Introduction to the Arts. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and French from Hope College.  Prior to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ, she worked with several Michigan theatre companies, including Shakespeare in the Arb, Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Meadow Brook Theatre, Mason Street Warehouse and Hope Summer Repertory Theatre. She joined Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ in 2019.

VanCamp, Aloha A.

Aloha A. VanCamp

Associate Professor of Social Work, teaches Introduction to Social Work, Critical Thinking and Writing, and Social Work Research Methods. She has expertise in the areas of mental health and program evaluation. VanCamp holds a doctorate in education, evaluation and research and a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University. She is a licensed master social worker in the state of Michigan and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (Michigan) and the Michigan Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Educators. Previously, she served as president of the Michigan Society for Clinical Social Work and chair of the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Social Work Department. She joined the University in 1989.

Venugopal, Eswara P.

Eswara P. Venugopal

Professor of Physics, teaches general physics courses and laboratories for engineering, life science and architecture students. He has published papers in theoretical atomic and particle physics. His recent research deals with chiral anomalies in photon-hadron interactions. He holds a M.Sc. (tech) degree in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, India, a M.S. in Physics from Utah State University, and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He joined the University in 1998.

Vernon, Alex

Alex Vernon

Director of the Immigration Law Clinic and Assistant Professor of Law, has practiced exclusively in immigration law. He practiced Piston & Carpenter, P.C. and Siegel, Gross & Tou, P.C. specializing in family immigration, removal proceedings, and asylum/humanitarian relief. He directs the Immigration Law Clinic. He is a founding member of the Canada/US Cross Border Network and is on the steering committee of a new legal clinic serving the migrants navigating the Canada/US border. Professor Vernon is a volunteer attorney with the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center and Freedom House Detroit, a Board Member of Detroit's Southwest Immigrant and Refugee Center, Southwest Florida’s Organización Internacional de Latinos en el Exterior, and the Deported Asylum Seekers Assistance Project and also participates in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, State Bar of Michigan Immigration Chapter, Canadian Council of Refugees, the Canada Sanctuary Network and the International Sanctuary Declaration Network. Vernon holds a B.A. from University of Toronto, St. Michael’s College and a J.D. from Ave Maria School of Law. He joined the University in 2015.
