Health Services Administration Certificate (Post-baccalaureate Non-business Students)
Description
The Health Services Administration graduate certificate prepares health care professionals in the business aspects of health care. Students who have completed a bachelor’s degree may elect to complete this five-course certificate in order to improve their ability to understand and manage within the U.S. health care system. Course content is specific to the field of health care delivery. Students will learn management strategies, health policy, accounting and financial management and approaches to quality improvement.

Admission Criteria
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or college. Your undergraduate degree does not have to be health care-related.
- A minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.75. Probationary admission may be granted to students whose GPA is less than a 2.75.
- Official transcripts sent directly from all colleges and universities attended.
- One letter of professional recommendation from someone in a supervisory capacity. Recommendation letter should be on the recommender’s employer’s letterhead and sent directly by the recommender from their professional (not personal) email address either to the health services administration administrator or through the Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ application portal.
- A brief (1-2 pages) essay* explaining why you are interested in pursuing the HSA Certificate program at University of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ:
- how your prior professional and/or personal experience led to your choice of a career in health administration
- why the HSA Certificate program at University of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ is of particular interest to you
- what your professional goals are upon graduation from the program / how you plan to use the HSA Certificate upon graduation
- For international students: why you chose the U.S. as your study destination
- For international students: TOEFL score of 6.5 or equivalent test score.
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae.

Admission from Health Services Administration Certificate Program to the Master of Health Services Administration Program
Students who complete the Health Services Administration Certificate program are eligible for admission to the MHSA program if they meet all admission criteria for the master's program. For entry into the master's program, candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and a combined cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better, submit official transcripts sent directly from all colleges and universities attended, a resume, three letters of recommendation (one from a supervisor) and a personal essay. Applicants who meet the requirements may be interviewed by the Health Services Administration program director for final determination of eligibility. All degree requirements must be completed within seven years.
