Foreign Language Studies (Certificate)

Description

University of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ offers instruction at the undergraduate level in many world languages (see language course offerings) and English as a Second Language. In many cases, foreign language studies can lead to a language certificate. Some less-commonly-taught languages, like Aramaic, Italian and Portuguese, may be offered on occasion but are not available as certificate programs.

Certificates in Language Studies

Certificates are available in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. Students do not need to be enrolled in a certificate program if they do not choose to be.

Students qualify for the certificate after completing four semesters (12 credits) of language study per language when they earn a grade of C or better at each level. Students may demonstrate proficiency via placement exam beyond the introductory 1100 level and may earn three, six or nine credits toward the certificate, based on exam results.
