Biography
Professor Velez is a highly motivated educator focused on providing her students with a positive learning environment. She teaches within the dental program, as co-director of Periodontics II, pre-clinical instrumentation and non-surgical periodontal therapy on the clinical floor. She utilizes her education, experience and personal enthusiasm for excellence in oral healthcare to provide consistent evidence-based education; offering each student the principles to provide optimum patient centered care. Professionally, she enhance and supports a seamless well-organized curriculum that strives for ethical excellence.
Her professional organizations include the Board of Governors University of Michigan School of Dentistry Alumni Society, Sigma Phi Alpha-National Dental Hygiene Honor Society, American Dental Hygienists' Association, Michigan Dental Hygienist Association, and the American Dental Education Association.
Professor Velez has many personal interests, including family, her sweet golden retriever, Lily, friends, being outdoors, golf, cooking, entertaining and travel.
