Biography
Associate Professor Wilfred Allen lectures across the undergraduate nursing programs of the McAuley School of Nursing with a focus on health assessment and medical-surgical nursing. With 24 years of active practice as a registered nurse and 17 years as a nurse practitioner, he provides care for individuals with acute and chronic illnesses. His missionary work includes providing care to underserved local communities as well as impoverished and underserved populations internationally in Nicaragua.
Dr. Allen holds certifications from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as an adult nurse practitioner. Since 2015, he has also served as a hospital administrator and has led the initiative to achieve an inaugural Magnet Designation at a local hospital.
His research interests include self-care and caregiving in patients with acute and chronic illnesses, the impact of masculinity ideology on health behaviors and health promotion with risk reduction in chronic illness patients.
Dr. Allen joined Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ in 2016.
